Field Service and Repairs
In addition to providing scheduled preventive maintenance and calibration services, Starrett repair any of its equipment on-site as needed. In North America, professional repairs are performed by the same highly-trained technicians who also provide installation and training.
If the equipment is within warranty, all repair costs are borne by Starrett. The standard warranty period for systems is one year. Extended warranty is available as an option. If the equipment is out of warranty, Starrett will provide a quote covering travel, parts, and labor costs. In many cases, the repair can be scheduled to coincide with preventive maintenance and calibration, thereby saving the cost of travel.
Prior to performing an on-site repair, Starrett will perform an extensive diagnosis over the phone. If the equipment is out of warranty, Starrett will provide an estimate for repair costs. If the problem points to a defective hardware item, Starrett will ship the replacement part prior to the service visit. If the need for additional parts or services is found during the service call and the equipment is out of warranty, Starrett will provide an additional quote, and an additional service visit may need to be scheduled. This is rare. The majority of problems are resolved as quoted and in a single day.
