SPECIFICATIONS Specifications and information appearing in this catalog, while current at the time of printing, are subject to change without notice.
ACCURACY All precision measuring tools meet or exceed accuracy and performance requirements of national and international standards and are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. From a practical point of view, most Starrett mechanical-reading tools are more accurate than the normal eye can read.
Electronic tools always show a "resolution" or readout specification and sometimes show an "accuracy" specification. They are two different things. "Resolution" tells you the finest readout you will see – but accuracy will tell you if the tool is as good as the readout or not.
CERTIFICATES AND CALIBRATIONS Today many customers are asking for more specific information about our products conforming to certain national or international standards or to their own needs and many ask for specific calibration certificates. We can and do furnish these regularly and the charges to the customer are based upon the complexity of each request. To save time and expense, be as specific as possible as to exactly what information is needed.
STARRETT VALUE No one's precision tools are guaranteed to work for life, regardless of the use or abuse they receive. It is worthy to note, however, that we at The L.S. Starrett Company regularly service and repair our precision measuring tools that have been passed from generation to generation and predate World War II.
You can count on Starrett for full value.
ORDERING Starrett tools are sold through authorized Starrett distributors. Orders should be placed with one of our distributors in your area. Names of authorized distributors are readily available by calling the home office or your nearest branch office or international headquarters. When ordering, please specify the tool number and size. Refer to the addresses and telephone numbers on the preceding pages.
DUAL NUMBERING For your ordering convenience, products in this catalog are identified in two ways. First, by catalog number in bold face type. Second, by EDP (Electronic Data Processing) number as recommended by the Industrial Distribution Association (IDA). Please order by catalog number. When ordering by EDI, specify both Catalog and EDP Numbers.
SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS Orders should spell out in detail the name of the individual and company and the full address, including zip code. Without specific shipping instructions, we will ship by the least expensive practical route.
CLAIMS When goods are sold and delivered to the carrier, title transfers automatically to the buyer. If goods are delayed or lost in transit, however, we will make every reasonable effort to trace shipment through the carrier. Lost shipment claims in the United States and Canada must be made within 60 days from date of invoice; foreign shipments, 90 days from date of invoice. Claims for errors or shortages must be reported immediately on receipt of goods.
