This position is responsible to the Strategic Accounts Manager and is challenged to manage distribution partners and build organizational competency for the Industrial Products - North America business unit. The target customers are Industrial and e-Commerce Distributors. The S. A. Supervisor is responsible for sales growth and business development activities with select channel partners in North America. Disciplines will include account management, tactical execution of strategic plan, organizational and analytical judgments specific to the sale of Industrial Products. Leading, inspiring, training and educating the channel partners is required to deliver upon the L.S. Starrett brand promise. Must have demonstrated experience in product information management, email marketing, digital marketing platforms, and advertising/promotional strategies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of the MRO market and specifically some of the key players in the industry. They will be able to seamlessly lead and manage the following groups: product manager, marketing teams, field sales leaders and account managers. This candidate must be able to transition between creating a growth strategy with key decision makers at the corporate level to supporting the products (training, demo, solution selling) at the end-user level.


  • Responsible for the go forward strategy and sales growth of the assigned accounts.
  • Develop winning go-to-market strategies in alignment with growth and margin objectives and take ownership to ensure execution.
  • Promote a collaborative environment through enhanced communication and engagement with marketing, operations, product management, regional channels and other stakeholders.
  • Capability to engage at all levels within an organization (internal/external), goal oriented-results driven, manage and measure work, build effective channel partners.
  • Coordinate with marketing or other business unit resources as necessary to resolve problems involving pricing, product application, product specifications, and warranties as required.
  • Responsible for the measurement of distributor performance and implementing distributor performance improvement programs.
  • Build, collaborate and management of promotional programs.
  • Collect and report trends and strategies of competitors to sales and management of channel partner and L.S. Starrett marketing group(s).


  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Engineering or Business Administration. In lieu of degree, Strategic Account management experience may be considered with 3 plus years of sales experience.
  • Proven business and sales acumen, including the ability to prospect accounts and effectively navigate within a customer organization.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial sales business setting.
  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills, including verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with capability to do analytics and navigate different Microsoft systems.
  • Establishes and builds solid relationships with customers.
  • Customer focused, self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed.

The L.S. Starrett Company is seeking an experienced Territory Manager for our North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia territories. The “right” territory sales professional will possess proven experience in territory management and new business development. Successful team members will be required to optimize and mine sales through industrial distributor channel partners and prospect, qualify, and develop new end-user customers in the automotive, electronics, aerospace, energy, construction, food packaging, medical, metal working, and manufacturing industries.   • 35% Account Management & Development – End-User & Distributor Manage, develop, and grow sales by supporting distributor partners through joint calls, sales training and product training, technical support, problem resolution, and product recommendations.

Top Performers
Top performers will possess a minimum of 6-8 years of proven sales experience working independently from a home office / virtual environment in a territory management, consultative-based sales role with experience in manufacturing or distributor-focused sales environments. Success requires expertise in new business development, qualifying, developing and securing new customer accounts through distribution and/or direct end-user channels.

Additional Experience
Prior experience in the manufacturing / industrial segment or industry-related experience in product application is a plus, although sales experience and success in developing customers in a multi-channel sales scenario is required.

Responsible for leading the development and documentation of advanced concepts and designs of complex electronic and electro-mechanical products requiring Analog and Digital Design Skills.

In addition, responsible for the construction, test and evaluation of prototype units.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Provide conceptual design of complex Electronic and Electro-mechanical products, assemblies and components. Complete tasks according to schedule, budget, costs and design objectives. Monitor and report work progress.
  2. Design and develop firmware, software in support of electronic circuits and test fixtures.
  3.  Direct the efforts and provide technical guidance for Engineers, Designer, Drafter, Technician and Toolmakers assigned to the project. Coordinate work with Engineers and others to ensure project goals and objectives are met.
  4. Direct the manufacture, test and analysis of prototype units and mockups.
  5. Document work by preparing Schematics, PCB layouts, drawings, Bills of Materials, ECN's and Engineering Release packages. Select and specify tolerances, materials and processes for designs as required. Direct and check the work of draftsmen and technicians as required to ensure accuracy and compliance with Product Requirement Specification and applicable standards. Ensure that quality goals and objectives are met.
  6. Participate in or lead the creation of Engineering Specifications, cost, manpower, capital, and expense estimates, along with task lists, milestones and schedules related to the development of new products.
  7. Participate in or lead product development teams and interface with Manufacturing Engineer, Production, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Vendors, Subcontractors and Customers on issues related to design, manufacture, use of parts or products.
  8. Provide input to maintain documentation, standards and guidelines such as; revision control, libraries, common components, layer lists, database management, etc.
  9. Maintain technical proficiency in design and ECAD skills.
  10. Maintain awareness of competitive products and developments.
  11. Maintain optimum working conditions and housekeeping. Comply with safety rules and regulations.
  12. Assume additional roles and responsibilities as required.


  1. Education:  BSEE required, MS preferred;   (BSEE acceptable with courses such as Digital and Analog Design and the equivalent of 8 years experience in the design of Instruments, production applications and manufacturing techniques to attain sufficient engineering background. )
  2. Skills / Technical Knowledge / Experience:  Minimum 5 years experience in design and documentation of Instruments with Digital and Analog Circuits and specification of electronic and electro-mechanical components.  Experience in compact, very low power (1.5-3VDC) circuit design. 
    • Must be fluent in written and spoken English
    • Demonstrated skill in the conceptual design and layout of Instruments.  Skill in the design and documentation of schematics, PCB Layout, Component Selection, Cables, Wire harnesses etc.
    • Demonstrated skill in microprocessor based firmware and software development.  Must know assembly language, compiliers, installers, optimization. Preferred platforms PIC and TI MSP 430 chips and C language.
    • Skilled in the use of ECAD tools for developing schematics and PCB layout (Altium Protel).
    • Skilled in the use of spreadsheet and word processing tools.
    • Capable of effectively leading product development teams.   Skill in the use of project scheduling tools preferred.
    • Experience with one or more of the following tools and methods; Design of Experiments, Design For Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA)
    • Basic understanding of electro-mechanical design is required.
  3. Supervision required: Works under general direction, independently determines and develops approach to solutions.  Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.
