The L.S. Starrett Company is seeking to fill Part Time Light Industrial and Assembly positions.

The Assembler will pull parts needed to assemble machines for the day. They will assemble to the scheduled production list. After assembled, the machines are inspected by a 3rd party inspector or other person in the room. The Assembler then packs up the machine and all required attachments to get them ready to be picked up by the trucker for shipping. The Assembler is tasked with making sure their area is neat and clean. The room is picked up daily and doors are locked at the end of the shift.

Normal hours are 6 a.m. to 3: 30 p.m.

Responsibilities would include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assemble FMM, FMS, MMD machines correctly
• Inspect force machines and fill out inspection reports
• Repair machines
• Pack machines
• Oracle duties (cycle counts and receiving)

The primary responsibilities for this position will be to manage all assigned supplier relationships to support business requirements including NPI (New Product Introduction) and Product Obsolescence requirements.  This position includes responsibility for lower dollar/lower criticality items/suppliers and for collaborating with more senior members of the Purchasing team in developing relationships with those suppliers, visiting and auditing facilities to gain understanding of processes, capacity constraints, and ensuring supplier’s quality systems are in place.
Daily tactical tasks include procuring assigned items/equipment/services per ERP system that meet quality standards while controlling cost, maintaining accurate data within the ERP system with respect to Purchase Order dates, Item Master data, and Supplier data, and expediting materials as needed to minimize production down time.

Responsibilities:


•    Responsible for actively participating in the qualification process of new suppliers and products, including identifying new and/or alternate sources to meet requirements as needed
•    Responsible for maintaining relationships with suppliers.
•    Responsible for coordinating with Supply Base Managers and/or Senior Supply Chain Management regarding the analysis of Supplier Scorecard data and resourcing activities as needed, initiating and monitoring improvement plans triggered by supplier performance data.
•    Responsible for coordinating with New Product Launch Teams regarding launch activities as needed, including sourcing options, costs, etc. for new items to influence product specifications to achieve the best supplier selection, quality, cost, and lead time.
•    Responsible for analyzing requirements driven through the ERP system to confirm accuracy and highlight fluctuations that warrant investigation.
•    Responsible for collaborating with Senior Supply Chain Management in defining inventory plans for purchased items and project when inventory will either exceed or fall short to the plan in order to take action to resolve the issue with minimal impact to customer order fulfillment or production schedules.
•    Responsible for procurement of goods, equipment, and/or services for assigned suppliers/commodities/items and expediting when needed to ensure backorders for purchased items are fulfilled as quickly as possible and production lines are not shut down due to purchased item shortages.
•    Responsible for negotiating the lowest possible cost of goods and/or services while maintaining quality and service standards as well as approved inventory levels.
•    Responsible for communicating orders, follow-up, forecasts, changes, and issues with supplier.
•    Responsible for management of the Change Order Process for all activities related to purchasing to minimize impacts to customer order fulfillment, inventory plan attainment, and production schedules.
•    Responsible for maintaining accurate Purchase Order data based upon supplier delivery confirmations.
•    Responsible for maintaining accurate Supplier contact data.
•    Responsible for maintaining accurate Item data, including lead times, pricing, price breaks, sourcing assignments, planning parameters, etc.
•    Responsible for communicating product availability data to Sales & Marketing.
•    Responsible for coordinating with QA, Engineering, and supplier to ensure timely resolution of NCRs and CAPAs, serving as the liaison between Starrett and supplier.
•    Responsible for coordinating with Receiving to resolve issues with the supplier deliveries.
•    Responsible for coordinating with A/P to resolve issues with the supplier invoices.
•    All Other Essential Duties as directed.
     

Requirements:

•    Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent business experience.
•    Minimum of one (1) year of sourcing/procurement experience for the relative commodity groups in a high volume and high mix manufacturing environment with domestic and international suppliers and customers.
•    Additional related experience of one (1) to three (3) years of Supply Chain in at least one of the following areas:  Planning, Master Scheduling, Inventory Management, Item Master Data Management is a plus.
•    Ability to read and understand prints and specifications related to purchased items.
•    Knowledge of the applicable manufacturing technologies and processes.
•    Knowledge of ERP systems (preferably Oracle or SAP) and fundamentals of Purchasing, Planning, and Inventory processes is required.

The Supervisor of Production Planning will report to the Supply chain manager and will be responsible for inventory planning, production scheduling, purchasing and logistics for our major North American facility located in North Central Massachusetts.

Objectives:

•    Reduce production costs by optimizing production scheduling and inventory levels
•    Reduce backorders by achieving improved fill rates and on time delivery
•    Lower inventory level and improve turnover
•    Coordinate external forecasting requirements between sales, manufacturing, purchasing and logistics
•    Lead internal forecasting requirements with both international distribution centers and manufacturing operations

Responsibilities:

•    Lead the materials management for 5,000 finished SKU with 25,000 components discrete manufacturing process.
•    Lead a Team of Planners
•    Perform high level review of Bill of Materials, routings, capacity planning, production yields and scheduling data and identify gaps in data requirements.
•    Working in various functional groups, including R&D, Information Technology, Manufacturing and Sales, taking care of replenishment reviews being supported by his/her Planning Dept`s team.
   

Requirements:

•    Bachelors degree with 5 years experience in manufacturing and supply chain management
•    Comprehensive understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) in a complex discrete manufacturing operation
•    Knowledge of Theory of Constrains (TOC) and its application is a plus.

Top performers will possess a minimum of 6-8 years of proven sales experience working independently from a home office / virtual environment in a territory management, consultative-based sales role with experience in manufacturing or distributor-focused sales environments.
